MP blank Patiala, big win for UP

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, Association of Indian Universities and Uttar Pradesh began with wins on Day One of the 7th senior women’s hockey nationals in Rohtak on Thursday. Jharkhand and Odisha were the others to notch up victories. In the day’s opening match in Pool C, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy thrashed Patiala 7-0. In Pool A, Association of Indian Universities rode on a brace each from Jyoti Gupta and Narinder Kaur to beat Gangpur-Odisha 5-2. In another Pool C game, Uttar Pradesh got the better of Tamil Nadu 9-1. Yogita Bora and Mumtaz Khan struck hat-tricks for the winners. Later in Pool B, Jharkhand hammered Punjab 4-1.
