RED BEACONS
Hats off to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the landmark decision to abolish red beacons (Red beacons for VVIPs abolished, April 20). If the PM thinks that all Indians are VIPs then the government should direct all politicians holding offices not to create traffic jams and inform people and the police to give way to ambulances carrying the sick.
Wasim Ahmed Khan Secunderabad Hats off to the Prime Minister for declaring all Indians as VIPs. The government did the right thing by abolishing the red beacon. The decision to promote generic medicines is also a good move. I hope the government will allow doctors who studied abroad in MCI recognised colleges to practice in India to meet the shortage of doctors. Zarin Shafat Khan

LIFE-SAVING DRUGS
It was shocking to know that the active ingredients used in life-saving drugs are imported from China and Europe although the department of pharmaceuticals submitted a report in 2015 to encourage their domestic manufacturing. It is high time the government intervened to save the lives of our people. Gopinath Mekala Hyderabad
POWER SUPPLY
The residents of Hyderabad must thank the government of Telangana for supplying 24 hours power (24/7 power supply boon to
twin cities, April 21). The severe heat wave in Telangana could have caused a lot of hardship to residents if 24 hours power was not available. J.K. Suresh Secunderabad
TRS’ BIG MONEY
The TRS ministers who worked as labourers for a few hours were able to earn lakhs. Why can’t they work full time for a month and earn crores, and use it to promote self employment schemes as the jobs promised by the CM have not materialised. It is a world record that Mr K.T. Rama Rao earned around `7 lakh a day by selling ice creams. Mathews Joseph Hyderabad
PROVIDE ROADS
I was shocked to read that a man transported his brother’s body on a cycle in a remote village in Assam (Man carries brother’s body on cycle, April 20). In India we can still find villages without roads. The PM must take this up on a war footing. Abhinav Sudershanum Hyderabad
U.S. VISA RULES
President Donald Trump is changing US visa rules making the lives of Indians difficult. This is a big problem as they will be put to great hardship if they come back. We must try to use the intellectual capabilities of these people for the development of our economy. V. Vijayakumar Warangal
