Temple priest dies suddenly

A 55-year-old temple priest was found dead in suspicious circumstan­ces at Jagathgiri­gutta on Tuesday. Police said Mahesh Kumar Sharma, hailing from Rajasthan, was found dead in the temple premises. They suspect that he died of cardiac arrest.

Mahesh Kumar Sharma was working as a priest at the Hanuman temple in Srinivasan­agar since six months. As he was staying alone, the temple committee provided him accommodat­ion in a room on the temple premises.

As per his regular routine, Mr Sharma used to wake up early in the morning to do yoga. On Tuesday morning,

AT AROUND 4.30 am, watchman Dhanraj went towards Sharma's room and found him on the ground unconsciou­s. Doctors said he may have had cardiac arrest he woke up, arranged his yoga mat and was doing yoga.

Meanwhile, at around 4.30 am, temple watchman Dhanraj who woke up and went towards Mr Sharma's room, found him lying on the ground unconsciou­s. He immediatel­y alerted the temple committee members and they informed the police.

“There are no injuries on the body. We suspect he could have had a cardiac arrest while doing yoga. Forensic experts also said that he could have suffered a cardiac arrest,” Jagathgiri­gutta inspector P. Srinivas said, adding that the autopsy was conducted and based on the report they will establish the cause of death.

Based on a complaint from Mr Sharma's relative Shiv Kumar Sharma, a suspicious death case was registered and the body was handed over to relatives.
