system on the linkage of Aadhaar and driving licence will assist them in such cases.

Joint transport commissioner J. Pandurang Naik said traffic violators would not be able avoid the surveillance of enforcement teams. “We are implementing the cancellation of licence system in cases of fatal accidents and drunk driving. Now, we will cancel licences based on the penalty points,” he said.

Mr Naik said the decision taken by the government would help reduce traffic violations apart from controlling offences which are committed using vehicles, like chain snatching and bike racing. Traffic training institutes have trained 1,791 women to ride twowheelers in two years. These are the only schools in the city run by the traffic police where only women are taught to ride twowheelers free.

The course is of four to five days, depending upon the acumen of the students. Training is imparted by women trainers.

The trainers at the institute make sure that the women drive confidently before they leave their premises.

As many as 1,381 women drivers were trained in the institute at Goshamahal and 410 at at Begumpet.

Mr V. Ravinder, joint commissioner, traffic, Hyderabad, said, “There are no driving institutes for women drivers, so this is a very good opportunity for women who want to learn driving. We are training girls who are eligible to drive.”
