WHAT IS NAFTA? The North American Free Trade Agreement took effect in 1994 and allows nearly unfettered access for goods and services between Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Mr Trump has blamed Nafta for wiping out US manufacturing jobs as it allowed firms to move factories to Mexico. US jobs lost as production moved to Mexico, a 2013 survey said. However, a 2015 report by the congress said “Nafta did not cause the huge job losses.”
