NIGERIAN HELD WITH COCAINE

-

Narcotics Control Bureau officials arrested a Nigerian and seized cocaine worth `1 crore from him.

The suspect, Lary Onyekachi, 35, was going to Bengaluru on a train with the drug when Narcotics Control Bureau officials arrested him at the Secunderabad railway station.

NCB officials said that Onyekachi had collected the drug from his source in New Delhi and was going to deliver it to his friend who stays in Bengaluru.

“He was travelling in the Bengaluru Rajdhani express. Based on an Intelligence inputwe searched the train and arrested him at the Secunderabad railway station,” said an NCB official.

The drug was kept in small plastic covers inside his bag. “The drug is worth `1 crore in the international market,” said the official.

The officials also found that Onyekachi was travelling with a fake passport.

“His visa had expired in 2012 and he was travelling with a forged passport. He had come to India on a business visa and was staying at Chander Vihar in New Delhi,” added the official.

The NCB officials are now investigating the suspect's source in New Delhi, who delivered the cocaine packets.

NCB officials booked a case against Onyekachi under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
