Every Gurukul school should have the same academic calendar, diet menu along with common facilities, said Deputy Chief Minister who holds the education portfolio, Kadiam Srihari and ministers Jagadish Reddy, Chandulal and Jogu Ramanna at a review meeting on residential degree colleges for women on Monday.

He said providing non-vegetarian meals on Sundays will be mandatory in every Gurukul school from now on.

Department officials are in the process of drafting a common menu for all the residential schools, he added.

Mr Srihari said that the state government will soon establish exclusive residential degree colleges for women across the state.

He said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has decided to make residential colleges available with more hostel accommodation to make them more accessible to women and promote women’s education in the state.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that residential degree colleges meant exclusively for SC, ST, BC and minority students are also being planned.

Also, every residential college student will get a health kit and there should be more women residential degree colleges in tribal areas.

Every revenue division will establish women’s degree residential college. Each revenue division has been ordered by the authorities to plan women’s residential colleges, he said.

Mr Srihari said, “The courses that will be offered in residential colleges will be job-oriented and stress will be laid on skill development so that women are industry-ready after successfully passingout and can earn their living’’.

The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officials to provide the same meals and facilities from the coming academic year of the students in all the 18 SC, ST, BC, minority and education sectors.

A committee has been set up by the minister to prepare a draft curriculum for such colleges in a fortnight. It will also study employment opportunities in veterinary, nursing and IT sectors.
