Local military authorities have put up a board notifying the closure of Gough Road from May 31. Minister K.T. Rama Rao was assured of an extension of deadline during a recent visit to New Delhi, but that appears to have been ignored.

The notice reads, “Road closure from 31st May 2017. General public is hereby informed that this road (Gough) will be closed for the public traffic from May 31, 2017 onwards in consonance with the High Court order on the subject, Emergency vehicles will however be permitted.”

The road is used by lakhs of motorists to cross from Secunderabad to Malkajgiri, Sainikpuri and several thickly populated areas.

Local military officials were not available for comment. There was no word from the state government either.
