2 tech students, 7-year-old girl killed

Three people, two engineerin­g students and a sevenyear-old girl, were killed in accidents in the city.

In Moinabad, two students, K. Shiva Kumar, 20, hailing from Madhapur and his friend Manasa, 18, hailing from Malkajgiri, both studying at JBR Engineerin­g College in Moinabad, were going to their college on Shiva's bike.

When their bike reached Aziznagar X Roads, a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction hit them. The duo were flung into the air and crashed on the road. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where they died while undergoing treatment. Police registered a case against the truck driver and has launched a hunt for him.

In another incident in Bachupally, a seven-yearold girl who was returning home with her mother after attending a birthday party was mowed down by a reversing SUV. The incident occurred in Maytas Hill County, a gated community. The girl was identified as Sreethika, the daughter of one Rajashekar.

Police said Rajashekar, a techie, and his wife Nitya, a housewife, hailing from Prakasam district, were staying in the gated community in villa #316. The couple has two daughters Rishitha and Sreethika.

On Monday night, after attending a birthday party, the two kids were returning with their mother. While they were walking on the walkway, an SUV belonging to one Ramreddy, the owner of villa #106, reversed at high speed and mowed down Sreethika. Her mother was also injured. They were rushed to hospital in the same vehicle where doctors declared Sreethika dead.

Police registered a case and detained the car driver. However, his details has not been released.
