- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD MAY 14

A four-member gang arrived in an auto rickshaw and robbed a house when the elderly inmates were alone on Sunday morning under Asifnagar Police Station limits.

According to the police, the robbers rang the doorbell. When the door was opened, they pushed the 53-year-old woman who opened it and threatened her with a knife.

They tied her hands and legs before scooting away with around 10 tolas of gold.

The woman, Shoukat Fatima, was at her house in Rethibowli of Mehdipatnam with her husband, Gulam Iqbal, a Gulf-returned businessman who has been bed-ridden with paralysis for the last three years.

The couple have four children. One boy is settled in UK and one in Dubai. One daughter is staying on the first floor of the same building as her parents and the younger daughter stay on second floor, said police.

“The two daughters had gone to attend a function at a relative’s place in Sun City on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, around 7 am, the gang arrived in an autorickshaw. Three of them went to the second floor while the driver kept a watch. The trio rang the doorbell when Fatima opened the door. They tied her up with cloth and threatened her with knives. They then looted the gold ornaments weighing about 10 tolas and fled the scene” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, B. Limba Reddy.

“There were no CCTV cameras in the building but we are accessing the ones on the road for some clues,” added the Additional Inspector of Asifnagar Police Station, K. P. Raja Rajeshwar.

Asifnagar police booked a case under Section 392 (robbery) of IPC and began an investigation.
