The state government has identified 23 roads in Khammam, Adilabad, Warangal and Karimnagar to be put up for the road connectivity project in left wing extremism affected areas.

The Union rural development ministry will provide the `1,290 crore required for the project. The TS government has selected the transport, roads and buildings department as a nodal agency for the implementation of the project.

The Centre launched the project in 44 worst affected districts and adjoining districts that are critical from a security and communication point of view.

The project would be implemented by the Union ministry for rural development and is to be completed by 2019-20. The project would broadly follow the programme guidelines of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

Under the project, construction upgradation of 5,411.81 km of roads will be built or upgraded, 126 bridges/cross drainage works will be taken up at an estimated cost of `11,724.53 crore nationwide.

The fund sharing is in the ratio of 60:40 between the Centre and states. The roads taken up under the project would include other district roads, village roads and up gradation of some of the existing major district roads. The roads were identified by the ministry of home affairs in consultation with the states.
