Techies knock on labour office doors

-

Software engineers have been knocking on the doors of the Telangana Labour Department in the last few weeks seeking its intervention in the present job crisis in some IT companies.

The same scene was witnessed on Monday with a few techies from Tech Mahindra lodging a complaint against their employer. According to Kiran Chandra, Forum for IT Professionals, who accompanied the techies, the IT firm was exerting pressure on their employees to submit resignations.

“The back-end wing is asking techies to quit and some of them also complained that exit letters are being generated from their official email without their notice. This amounts to violation and individual complaints have been filed with the department,” he said.

Meanwhile, R Chandra Shekharam, Joint Commissioner for Labour, Ranga Reddy, stated that they are doing their best to create awareness about the laws of the land to both employers and the techies.

He said that they will take appropriate action over the issue raised by a few techies against Tech Mahindra.

Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra spokesperson Bibhu Ranjan Mishra declined to comment on the complaints by a few techies. He, however, said that all IT companies evaluate the performance of their staff and those getting low grades are allowed to go on their own.
