TS beats average in IT exports for 3rd yr

Telangana’s IT and ITES (IT Enabled Services) exports have recorded a growth higher than that of the national average for the third time in a row.

During the 2015-16 fiscal, exports were pegged at $12 billion or `75,000 crore. Industry sources said, “The Hyderabad IT sector has witnessed a steady growth in the last financial year (201617), which has resulted in the increase of exports.”

The increase is being pegged in the range of `10,000 crore to `15,000 crore, when compared to the previous fiscal.

The Telangana government will be releasing the figures in its annual report, which will be presented on Thursday.

In the last few years IT exports have witnessed an upward trend, especially in Telangana.

The value of IT exports in Telangana was pegged at `57,000 crore in 2014-15, `66,000 crore in 2015-16 and `75,000 crore in the last financial year (2016-17). `75,000 in the last financial year is the total revenue earned by over a 1,000-odd IT and Business Processes Management (BPM) companies in Hyderabad. Data was collected from various agencies and STPI (Software Technology Parks of India).

IT firms extend services such consulting, software developmen­t, product support, business processes, tech support, infrastruc­ture services to clients abroad of which the US and UK made up about 80 per cent of the business.

When asked about company specific data, Nasscom members informed, that IT firms did not reveal city specific revenue on exports because majority of them have offices in several cities.
