Budding singer commits suicide
An aspiring singer hanged himself to death at his home in Meerpet as his parents and brother were present. An engineering student, Sujith Kumar did not leave any suicide note behind leaving his family griefstricken. They have no clue about why he took the extreme step. The only thing that they can now recall is that since a week he had been upset and was avoiding the family.
Sujith Kumar, 23, was a third year engineering student of CVR Engineering College. He was also deeply into music and was hoping to be a professional singer. On Sunday, the day of his suicide, he was at home. Around 4.30 pm, he suddenly came to his mother Sujatha, hugged her, rushed to the terrace and locked himself up in the room there. His elder brother Vinay Kumar who saw this, followed Sujith and knocked on the door, but Sujith replied that he was fine and asked Vinay to leave him alone. He also said he would come down after 10 minutes. After about half an hour, when Sujith did not come down, Vinay went up to call him, but there was no response. He peeped through the window and found Sujith hanging from the ceiling. The family broke open the door and rushed him to hospital, where he was declared dead.
Police have registered a case of suspicious death.
“Nothing suspicious has been found till now. The family is also not aware of the reason. We are analysing his mobile call records for clues, based on which, we will proceed,” Meerpet inspector N. Rangaswamy said.
Meanwhile, his relatives said that he was a passionate singer and had learnt music from his mother from early childhood. He had also started a cultural association called Sri Sharada Music Academy. "He always dreamt of a career in singing and was a big fan of SP Balasubramanyam. In view of the great singer's birthday on June 12, he had arranged a musical concert in Chikkadpally", a neighbour said.
