MASJIDS GET IFTAR GIFT FROM TS

The Telangana State Government has released `1 lakh each to 432 masjids in the city, for them to host Iftar parties on June 18.

The government has sanctioned a total of `4.8 crore for this purpose. Each masjid has also been sanctioned 500 gift packs containing new clothes to be distribute­d to Muslims for Ramzan.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao will host an Iftar party on behalf of the State Government at the Nizam College Grounds on June 18.

Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav held a meeting with masjid committees, local corporator­s and officials at the Secretaria­t on Friday, to discuss the arrangemen­ts for the Iftar parties being hosted and sponsored by the State Government. He said that 2.16 lakh gift packs have been prepared for distributi­on in masjids on June 16.

“The Telangana Government has been hosting Iftar parties and distributi­ng gift packs to people during Ramzan since the formation of Telangana state in 2014. The State Government has been giving equal importance to and officially celebratin­g the major festivals of all religions, to promote communal harmony in the state. This practice will continue in the future,” he said.
