Ex-top brass of HCA cry foul over current team

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, JUNE 17

Former top brass of the Hyderabad Cricket Association came down heavily against the current regime and termed their suspension as vendetta in gross violation of rules.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, expresident Arshad Ayub and former secretary John Manoj levelled allegations against HCA secretary T. Shesh Narayan, branding him a vengeful person.

“Shesh Narayan and Prakash Chand Jain (ad hoc committee chairman) have misappropriated facts to mislead people,” Arshad said. The former Test cricketer also alleged that officials bribed their way into positions at the HCA.

“On what basis did they suspend us? And how can they acquire the top position when a Special Leave Petition (SLP) is still due for July?” Arshad questioned.

John felt the forming of an ad hoc committee itself was flawed. “Nothing is going according to the rules and regulations in the HCA now. The directions of Supreme Court to implement the Lodha committee recommendations too have been disrespected,” the former HCA secretary said.

Speaking about the suspensions, John said: “They circulated a wrong note about the accounts. There are no anomalies in the accounts we made.”

“They put up wrong accounts wherein our journey to Kolkata was mentioned while there was none as the match was abandoned,” he added.

Supreme Court advocate E. V. Venugopal, who was the other panellist at the meet, said the HCA is in wrong hands currently. “This year’s elections were conducted in a fraudulent manner. This is deep rooted conspiracy,” he said.
