Penalty notice issued to Kalinga Airlines

NEW DELHI, JUNE 17. The Kalinga Airlines of Calcutta has deposited only Rs. 1,12,000 into the Government account as against Rs. 4,26,000 collected by it from its employees as Income-Tax dues during the financial year 1965-66.

Disclosing this in a written reply to Mr. Banka Behary Das in the Rajya Sabha today, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Finance Minister, Mr. Morarji Desai, said a notice had been had issued to the Airlines management under the IncomeTax Act “for showing cause against imposition of a penalty for the default”.

Mr. Desai added further proceeding­s would be taken against the Airlines as per law after a reply was received in response to the show cause notice. — PTI.
