NDA presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind was trending on Google’s search list, with over 5 lakh searches on Tuesday.

The highest number of searches were from Bihar, Harayana and Andhra Pradesh, followed closely by Jharkhand and Maharashtra.

The ‘Interest over Time’ for Mr Kovind shot up to 100 per cent. The other search on Mr Kovind was about him as a politician.

The searches started immediately after the BJP nominated Mr Kovind, Bihar Governor and two-time former Rajya Sabha member.

Most searched was Mr Kovind’s caste, followed by his background with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and his education. “Google search has shown that it is not the person but his caste that is the most important factor”, said Mr Roy Joseph, a corporate executive.

The sub-regional page of Google Trends showed that Andhra Pradesh and Bihar were the states most curious about his caste.

Badminton champ P.V Sindhu had also got maximum searches about her caste, soon after she won the silver medal at the Rio Olympics last year.

One of the biggest searches in recent times, however, was the question “Why did Katappa kill Baahubali?” which was answered in the second part of the film.
