Honest can expose chain of cheats 65,000 TRADERS IN STATE YET TO BE REGISTERED ON GST

The GST Network project (GSTN), a unique and complex IT initiative, set up for implementi­ng GST from July 1 has been primarily designed to check tax evasion and fix cheating by anyone at any level during tax administra­tion.

For the first time, a uniform interface for the taxpayer and a common and shared IT infrastruc­ture between the Centre and states has been establishe­d with GSTN.

The network was Hyderabad: Nearly 65,000 traders in Telangana state are yet to register for GST with only one day left for the rollout of GST on July 1.

There are about 2.07 lakh traders in the state and nearly 1.70 lakh have registered for GST so far, according to the state designed to plug leaks, eliminate tax fraud and government. Finance minister Etala Rajender said that an additional 25,000 traders are expected to register soon.

That still leaves a backlog of 65,000 traders who are yet to register for GST. enable easy auditing. Data from this system can be mined and analysed to improve tax collection. No matter where in the country a trader buys his inputs and no matter where he sells his outputs, there will be a single tax chain where each stage will be offset against the last.

Most importantl­y, all this will happen through a unified, transparen­t, digital interface to which all government­s and all businesses in the country will be connected.
