The GHMC has at last taken up the job of repairing roads (Boy’s civic sense produces results, June 29). The CM had asked the GHMC to repair roads by May-end. The government should punish those who ignored orders. The public must be asked to post the names of roads that need maintenance on the FB page of GHMC. Once repairs are completed the authorities must post pictures of the work done.

The Centre's decision to hike the pay of its employees will gladden them (Cabinet nod to pay recommendations, June 29). Although the government has been claiming that inflation is under control this hike will put the common man into difficulty as inflation will surge. The report that Manvi, a 5-year-old girl offered her piggy bank savings as bribe to the police was very disheartening (Girl offers piggy bank

as bribe, June 29). This shows the level of corruption in our country. Why are petrol and diesel prices not under GST? As of now the Central excise duty on petrol and diesel is 23 per cent and state VAT is 34 per cent. If these items are brought under GST, the maximum tax will be only 28 per cent. I am a senior citizen. I wanted to link my Aadhaar with my cellphone number. I went to the Vodaphone office for this but the fingerprint matching was unsuccessful as my fingerprints had smudged due to age. The government should find an easy way to link Aadhaar with phone number. I am surprised by the police conclusion that beautician Sirisha had committed suicide even before the post-mortem report was out (No

sexual assault on Sirisha, June 29). What is more unnerving is the silence of women’s organisations. Politicians are also silent as there is no caste card to play here. K. Raghunadha Rao Hyderabad Mr Pratap Narayan’s suggestion that the government should consider using lands under GO 111 where construction is prohibited for generating solar power is a good idea

(Solar power, June 29). As the above land falls in the greenbelt area, the greenery must also be protected.
