VIHARI, ANSHUL SMASH TONS ON DAY THREE

Hanuma Vihari, J. Anshul Lal and P. Rohit Reddy smashed centuries to put up a mammoth 630/6 for R. Dayanand against Sporting XI on Day Three in a Pool ‘A’ match of the A1 Division Three- Day matches here on Friday. Vihari who scored 136 from 96 balls in his power-packed innings which included 10 fours and 12 sixes. Anshul remained unbeaten on a composed 122 and Rohit Reddy hit 108. Bhagath Varma chipped in 75. The first day was washed out, and Sporting XI did not get a chance to bat. The teams secured a point each. In a Pool ‘B’ match, Batting first, Cambridge XI declared on 337 in 81 overs. In response, India Cements came back hard, with Hrishikesh Simha leading the charge with a 178-ball 110. His efforts went in vain as Mehdi Hasan (4/73) and Mir Omer Khan (3/37) helped Cambridge XI bowl out India Cements for 302 and pocket three points.

Siraj, Bhagath praised

On Friday, Hyderabad Cricket Associatio­n secretary T. Shesh Narayan lauded Bhagath Varma and Mohammed Siraj for making it into the India U19 and ‘A’ teams. “This is great news for Hyderabad. On behalf of HCA’s Apex Council and the cricket fraternity in the state, I congratula­te both players and wish they reach greater heights,” he said. M. Siraj who will represent India ‘A’ will play a One Day triseries involving Australia ‘A’ and South Africa ‘A’ followed by two four-day matches against South Africa during July-August. While Bhagat Verma, who made into the India Under 19 team will tour UK to play two four-day matches during July.
