Easy escape route an attraction

-

Despite a major heist at RC Puram Mini Muthoot seven months back, the management seem to have learnt no lesson.

Though there were CC TV cameras installed at the Mailardevpally branch, there were no guards. Police suspect the involvement of an interstate gang in the attempt. They may have chosen the particular branch for the theft because of its location close to the National Highway. In addition to the highway, the suspects had many escape options.

Cyberabad police said that it will issue notice to the management of Muthoot for not deploying armed guards at the branch and not taking necessary safety precautions.

When a five-member gang entered the Muthoot mini branch in Beeramguda in RC Puram, they identified themselves as CBI officers, which is inspired by a Bollywood flick Special 26 starring Akshay Kumar.

The suspects easily walked away with around 44 kg of gold from the safe, after locking up the staff inside a room. Cops found that the office was not guarded, which is the main reason that it has become the target. In addition to this security lapse, the branch was located on the outskirts and located close to the city borders. Though cops could solve the case after two weeks, they could arrest only four persons and recover less than ten per cent of the booty. After the incident, cops took serious note of the security and instructed the Muthoot management to take necessary precautions and deploy armed guards at all the branches. There are close to 50 Muthoot branches across the city.

Like the branch in RC puram, the branch in Mailardevpally also is located on the city outskirts. It is close to the cargo road leading to Shamshabad from where they could take the National Highway towards Bengaluru. Another option is to go a few kilometres towards Chandrayanagutta and enter the Old City. The other possible option to them was to go towards Vattepally and take on the Srisailam highway. “This could be one reason they chose this. However as they could not succeed, they sped towards Aramgarh.’ Police said.
