RAMAKRISHN­A RESIGNS AS ADV. GENERAL

In an unexpected move, K. Ramakrishn­a Reddy, the first Advocate General of Telangana state, has submitted his resignatio­n to the state government. Mr Reddy faxed his resignatio­n to the Chief Secretary of the government on Wednesday.

Mr Reddy was appointed the first Advocate General of the newlyforme­d Telangana state on June 21, 2014. He completed his three-year term on June 21 this year, and the state government wants to appoint a new Advocate General. Sources in the law department revealed that D. Prakash Reddy, senior counsel and former advocate-general is likely to be the new Advocate General.

In an unexpected move, K. Ramakrishn­a Reddy, the first advocate-general of Telangana State, has submitted his resignatio­n to the state government. Mr Reddy faxed his resignatio­n to the Chief Secretary of the government on Wednesday.

Mr Ramakrishn­a Reddy practised before the Hyderabad High Court for three decades.

Mr Reddy successful­ly represente­d the newly-formed state of Telangana in the High Court as well as in the Supreme Court in his three years as Advocate General.

With the resignatio­n of the current Advocate General, there is likely to be a reshuffle in the existing team of law officers of the government at the High Court, including Additional Advocate General J. Ramachandr­a Rao.

The team of law officers was appointed based on Mr Ramakrishn­a Reddy’s advice and the new Advocate General will select a team of law officers of his choice.
