Custody of 3 more sought for evidence

The Special Investigat­ion Team, constitute­d for drug cases, is seeking custody of three more accused in the case to collect more evidence to gear up their investigat­ion.

So far, the enforcemen­t wing of the Prohibitio­n and Excise department has registered four separate cases and recently took the prime accused Calvin Mascarenha­s and two others from the Old City — Md. Abdul Quddus and Md. Abdul Wahed — and grilled them on a few code words utilised in the conversati­ons of WhatsApp.

IN ORDER to collect more evidence on how the racket widened the network to schools and colleges, the STF is seeking custody of Kundan Singh, Aman Naidu and V. Nikhil Shetty. (23), Aman Naidu (25) and V. Nikhil Shetty (23).

Director of Enforcemen­t Dr Akun Sabharwal said that the STF would take the trio into its custody for collecting some strong evidence related to the case.

An official said that there was not much time to question the trio during their arrest and as per rules; the Special Task Force produced them before court.

“Now, we are seeking more informatio­n on how they trapped college and school students. How the event managers were involved in drug rackets,” the official said.

After concentrat­ing on this trio, the SIT will seek custody of other accused persons V.Ravi Kiran, Brendon Ben and A. Piyush. The SIT, which is so far focusing on Lysergic Acid Diethylami­de (LSD) and Methylene di oxym et ham phetamine (MDMA), will concentrat­e on the cocaine rackets after grilling Brendon Ben.
