AC BUSES FOR OLD CITY? RTC IS NOT AWARE

IN

-

Four months have passed since transport minister M Mahender Reddy announced in the Assembly that AC buses would be introduced in the Old City, the TSRTC officials have no idea about it.

The officials say that they have not received any representations for introducing air conditioned buses.

In March, MIM Floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, speaking in the Assembly, had raised the issue of lack of AC on Old City routes. At the same time, he had sought new buses. Mr Mahender Reddy had replied that AC buses would be run in the Old City too.

In January, MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi wrote to the TSRTC asking them about the proposal. He stated that there are several places of historic significance in the southern part of the city which attracted domestic and international tourists.

However, the TSRTC officials do not have any idea of the issue or the about the minister’s assurance.

TSRTC divisional manager, Charminar, Sudha P., said she was unaware of any such proposal. She contacted her senior and said the corporation had not received any representations from the public on the matter.

A reply to an RTI application received from TSRTC states that the corporation runs 42 ladies special services from various locations to important offices including Secretariat, GHMC office, Gandhi Bhavan, Mehdipatnam, Errum Manzil and GSI complex from 13 bus depots. The corporation does not run any ladies special services from Falaknuma, Rajendranagar and Mehdipatnam bus depots.

Falaknuma depot manager Sameena Parveen said the corporation would introduce the ladies specials if they get representations for it.
