TS BJP to take stock of politics, Ram to attend

- DC CORRESPONDENT

BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav is likely to attend the two-day Telangana BJP state executive committee meeting on July 22 and 23 in Warangal.

The meeting has been convened to chalk out a strategy to strengthen the party in the state.

Mr Madhav, a native of Andhra Pradesh, is the in-charge of BJP affairs in northeastern states and Jammu Kashmir. This would be the first time that Mr Madhav would be attending the party executive in Telangana, a state which was dominated by senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu.

“I will be coming to Hyderabad to participate in a seminar. So I may take part in the Warangal meeting next day,” Mr Madhav told this newspaper.

He, however, ruled out any speculation about him getting the charge of party affairs in Telangana and said it is a practice for the party national general secretaries to attend party meetings during their visits to the state.

He is known for his strategies that brought the BJP to power in Assam and Manipur.

In AP, he was responsible for the induction of former Congress Minister Kanna Laxminarayana and others into party.

The BJP has three incharges for Telangana state — Union minister Hanjsraj Ahir Gangaram, BJP Kerala leader Krishna Das and RSS leader Sowdhan Singh.

“We will chalk out our future strategy in the state in the Warangal meet. We will take up a review of the organisational matters directed by party national president Amit Shah during his recent visit to the state,” said State BJP president K. Laxman.

The conclave would also deliberate on Mr Shah’s three-day visit in September. He said the BJP would hold its district executive meetings from July 28 to 30 and mandal level meetings from August 5 to 9.
