- DC CORRESPONDENT

TPCC leaders on Wednesday countered IT minister K.T. Rama Rao’s claims of shutting down Himanshu Motors owned by him by saying that the firm was still in business. They said that the minister had also included all details of the firm in his election affidavit.

TPCC general-secretary and chief spokesperson Dasoju Sravan, former minister Prasada Kumar, Youth Congress chief Anil Kumar Yadav, spokespersons Addanki Dayakar, K.K. Mahender Reddy, Katti Venkata Swamy, M. Krishank and Indira Sobhan, released Mr Rama Rao’s election affidavit as well as firm’s documents at a joint news conference here as proof that Himanshu Motors was still in business and not shut down eight years ago as claimed by Mr Rama Rao on Tuesday.

They said that the minister had also mentioned the company in his Income Tax returns for 2015-16.

They accused Mr Rama Rao of being responsible for the sand mafia spreading its tentacles in Siricilla Assembly constituency by casting aside the National Green Tribunal norms and environmental concerns.

They also accused the minister of being involved in land, sand and drug mafia that surfaced recently.

The TPCC spokespersons alleged that one Santosh Kumar, who was working as a general manager in the firm owned by Goldstone Prasad that allegedly sold the Miyapur lands, is a close relative of Mr Rama Rao.

They also asked the minister why only the Swarna Bharathi Trust, owned by Deepa Venkat, daughter of M. Venkaiah Naidu was exempted from developmental charges while the same benefits were denied to other NGOs and service oriented institutions.

The TPCC spokespersons also chided Mr Rama Rao for his caustic comments against the Congress during Tuesday’s news conference.

THE TPCC spokespersons produced copies of the minister’s election affidavit and said that he had also mentioned the company in his I-T returns
