Four held for burglary, goods worth `7L seized

Rachakonda police solved a two-month old burglary case and arrested four suspects on Monday, including a degree student and two minors. Police recovered valuables worth around `7 lakh from them. The arrested persons are Md Zameer, a welder, Md Asif Ali, a degree final year student and two minors aged 17.

LB Nagar DCP M. Venkateswa­r Rao said that between April 29 and May 20, the victim Radheshyam Vikram, a businessma­n from Kuntloor, went on vacation along with his family. When they returned they found that the house had been burgled and gold jewellery, silver and cash was stolen from the house.

On Monday, Hayathnaga­r police saw the suspects moving in suspicious circumstan­ces and apprehende­d them.

During questionin­g they admitted commiting thefts.

Zameer said that he was involved in seven burglaries. The minors were involved in 12 and 11 cases respective­ly and Asif was involved in one case. Another gang member Ilyas is absconding.

One of the minors was earlier apprehende­d and sent to a correction­al home. After release he continued crime. A month ago he was caught for theft and when produced before the Juvenile Board the members warned him to change and let him go after counsellin­g.

“He did not change and continued to engage in crime with his friends. They spent the earning on luxuries,” the DCP said.

Police recovered gold and silver articles, electronic gadgets and cash worth `7.3 lakh from the arrested suspects.
