ACB raids babu, `6 cr worth assets seized

Sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau raided the residences of an Assistant Commercial Officer in Mahbubnaga­r district on Friday. During the raids, assets belonging to Bathina Surender Goud worth `6 crore were seized.

After receiving credible informatio­n, police teams raided the residences of Bathina Surender Goud, who is working as an assistant commercial tax officer in Jadcherla of Mahbubnaga­r district. Searches were also conducted on the residences of his relatives.

During the searches, it was revealed that Surender had acquired properties in his name and in the names of his family members.

The raids unearthed a double storey building with a penthouse in Jadcherla worth `36 lakh and another double storeyed building worth `85 lakh in Jadcherla, agricultur­al lands measuring 40 acres worth `19 lakh in Mahbubnaga­r district, seven plots worth `4 lakh in Jadcherla, two cars worth `17 lakh and a bike worth `60,000.

Police also found bank balances of `8 lakh, gold and silver articles worth `4 lakh, insurance premiums of `4 lakh and household articles worth `5 lakh.

Although the document value of the seized properties is around `1.85 crore, its market value is estimated to be around `6 crore. Surender Goud was arrested and produced before the Anti Corruption Bureau court in Hyderabad.

POLICE ALSO found bank deposits of `8 lakh, gold and silver articles worth `4 lakh, insurance policies of `4 lakh and household articles worth `5 lakh. Some of the assets were in kin’s name
