AS JOB CUTS LOOM, TECHIES LEARN TO SAVE
Software professionals are having second thoughts when it comes to taking banking loans. They are also exercising caution in spending money during the weekends as the IT industry is passing through a difficult phase with job cuts looming large.
Sundeep Kumar Makhthala, president of the Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA), said, “Techies used to unwind with friends and families during the weekends. They used to go for funfilled recreational activities, which were seen as stress-busters.”
“However, due to the present uncertanity in the IT industry, these activities have come down. The spending pattern has definitely changed in the last few months,” he added.
IT professionals have realised the need to save money to live in the hard times. AMR Builders, which is undertaking construction work at Jubilee Hills, was fined `50,000 for flooding the road. This is the second time that a builder in the city is being fined for causing damages to the road in this month.
The engineering wing of the GHMC has issued a notice to the builder, asking him to stop construction. The violation was identified by Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan and municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao when they were passing by the area on Thursday to attend an official function.
The minister alerted the GHMC engineering wing. During inspection, it was found that the workers were draining the water onto BT road. The company was asked to pay a penalty of `50,000.
The builder has closed a drainage and built a ramp on it, causing water-logging on the road. The civic body has also issued a notice to the builder to remove the ramp.
