CM draws up elaborate plan to survey every inch of land in state

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday ordered a comprehensive land survey across the state from September 15 to purify revenue land records to put an end to land disputes.

The survey will be conducted till the end of December by taking each revenue village as a unit.

The last land survey was conducted 80 years ago by the then Nizam’s government between 1932 and 1936.

Mr Rao asked officials to maintain records and do property registrations in a transparent manner. He was speaking at a high-level meeting with ministers and officials at Pragathi Bhavan to finalise land survey and changes in property registration.

The CM’s scheme of extending financial assistance of `8,000 per acre per year to farmers from May 2018 will be offered based on this survey.

Before beginning the survey, the government will constitute coordination committees of village farmer federations from September 1 to 9.

All farmers holding agriculture land parcels will be the part of the federations. The coordination committees will comprise 11 members. The government will hold seminars from September 10 to 15 to train these committees in each mandal headquarter. Officials estimated that up to 95 per cent of the land holdings in the state did not have land disputes.

The survey and purification of records will begin with these undisputed land parcels.

In the second stage, disputed land parcels will be dealt with. If the disputes are in court, the land ownership will be accorded as per the directions of courts.

Mr Rao directed officials to set up an IT system similar to that of core banking. The owner should get an alert if any transaction happens on the land.
