CITY BOILS AS TEMPERATUR­E HITS A HIGH

Temperatur­es touched 34 degrees celsius on Tuesday, making it the hottest day in the month of September in the past two years.

The highest ever temperatur­e for the month of September, which was 36.5 degrees, was recorded on September 26, 2015. Temperatur­es in the city have been rising as the south-west monsoon currents over the state of Telangana has been a week since the beginning of September.

The local weather bureau has been making prediction­s of heavy rainfall and thundersto­rms in various districts as well as the capital city. Meanwhile, temperatur­es and humidity have been increasing, with traces of rainfall being recorded in isolated areas.

Hyderabad has not received any rainfall over the past few days. The temperatur­e recorded in the city on Tuesday was three degrees above normal. Meanwhile, nights have remained cool, with temperatur­es between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius.

The last spells of rain that the city witnessed were on September 6, but even then they were only light showers. Barring the last few days of August, when the city recorded rainfall in triple-digits, the city did not receive much rain last month.

Most other districts in the state also received only scanty rainfall during this period. However, local weather authoritie­s say that some rainfall is anticipate­d in the near future. They forecast moderate showers in parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad, on September 13 and 14.
