Hyderabad win all-India tourney

Hyderabad players continued to deliver sparkling performanc­es as the Deccan side comfortabl­y defeated a Tamil Nadu XI to emerge champion in the all-India Buchi Babu cricket tournament that was played at Chennai.

After bowling out hosts Tamil Nadu Cricket Associatio­n President’s XI for 200, the Hyderabad batting unit comfortabl­y chased down the total in 56.4 overs with the loss of just two wickets.

Openers Tanmay Agarwal and captain P. Akshath Reddy got the winners off to a good start. While the former continued his good form in the tournament to hit 35, the latter made 30 to set it up for their teammates.

Tanmay was the top-scorer in the Moin-ud Dowlah tournament that preceded the Buchi Babu tourney.

Then, Kolla Sumanth and Rohit Rayudu took over to remain unbeaten and finish the match off in great style.

Sumanth dispatched 11 boundaries and a six to score an unbeaten 77 from 115 balls while Rohit played a supporting role by scoring a fine 47 that included seven boundaries.

After the achievemen­t, the Apex Council members and the members of the Hyderabad Cricket Associatio­n congratula­ted the team members as well as the support staff.
