CM rejigs Bhagiratha timeline, P-1 by Dec.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashe­khar Rao on Saturday asked officials to divide Mission Bhagiratha works into two parts and complete the first segment by December 31 and the second by June 2018.

He cautioned officials that there could be teething troubles like leakage from and breakage of pipes due to water pressure and problems with valves when supply begins, and they must be attended to immediatel­y. He said when the programme was implemente­d in Gajwel, small problems persisted for a couple of months.

Mr Chandrasek­har Rao said that under Part-I, 25,000 habitation­s should get purified water by December end as a New Year gift. Under Part-II all internal works should be done to fix taps in every household.

Officials told Mr Rao that drinking water was being supplied to 3,431 villages of the targeted 24,225, another 5,443 villages would be covered by October-end, 6,006 by November-end and 9,345 villages by Decemberen­d.

Mr Chandrasek­har Rao praised the electricit­y department for making arrangemen­ts to supply the required power for Mission Bhagiratha.

TS Genco and Transco chairman and managing director D. Prabhakar Rao informed the Chief Minister that all electrical works on Mission Bhagiratha would be completed by October 2.

Mr Prabhakar Rao said the work such as constructi­on of sub-stations, arranging power cables and installing transforme­rs were completed at a cost of `300 crore.

He said to supply 221 MW uninterrup­ted power to Mission Bhagiratha, 42 sub stations, 1,190-km of cables and 87 power transforme­rs were put in place.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao cautioned officials that there would be problems when supply began.
