MP fund papers not submitted

Centre asks TS for documents, wants information uploaded on website

- S.N.C.N. ACHARYULU I DC

The Centre has pulled up the TS government for not submitting documents and not updating the progress of works under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).

In a letter to TS Chief Secretary S.P. Singh, Mr K.K. Lamba, directorgeneral, Statistics and Programme Implementation, wrote that in spite of repeated requests from his ministry, some districts of TS have not been updating information on the Integrated MPLADS website.

Mr Lamba said that instalments of MPLADS funds pertaining to a number of members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha from Telangana state were pending for want of necessary documents and certifications by the respective nodal district authorities.

He requested Mr Singh to issue directions to the nodal departments and district authorities to furnish the documents and certifications to release the MPLADS funds and to direct them to upload the latest monthly progress report on the integrated MPLADS website.

Mr Singh is holding a meeting with MPs and officials to discuss the progress of works taken up under the MPLADS under which each Member of Parliament is provided `5 crore a year by the Centre to allot to development work in her or his constituency.

The funds are disbursed to nodal agencies controlled by district officials after the members of Parliament submit their project reports.

Separately, in a letter to TS Special Chief Secretary, planning, B.P. Acharya, Congress MP K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao said that the Hyderabad district administration is not releasing funds in spite of repeated requests to carry out MPLADS work.

They were being informed by the Hyderabad district administration that there were no funds in his account, the Congress MP said.

He said that acceding to his request, the Centre has changed his nodal district to Hyderabad from Krishna district. Most of the work recommended by him between April 2016 and January 2017 had not been sanctioned by either the Hyderabad or the Krishna district administration.

Dr Ramachandra Rao said that if any work recommended by MPs was not permissible under MPLADS, the district administration just puts it aside for months together and does not inform the MP.

Dr Ramachandra Rao has requested a review of MPLADS recommendations, sanctions and releases.
