FACELIFT FOR RGIA ROAD, FALAKNUMA

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Thanks to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GEC) in November, roads connecting the Shamshabad airport with Falaknuma and HICCMadhapur are getting a `21.5crore facelift.

Over 2,000 delegates are scheduled to stay in the city from November 28 and most of them will be provided accommodation in Madhapur and Falaknuma.

The stretch from Aramghar crossroad via Chandrayangutta bridge to Falaknuma will be beautified at a cost of `6.5 crore as many high-profile delegates, including US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump are likely to be housed in the palace.

Nearly `15 crore will be spent on the stretch from Nagarjuna Circle via Jubilee hills Road Number 36 and from Gachibowli via Kothaguda to HICC-Madhapur.

Since Charminar, Salar Jung Museum and the Chowmahalla Palace figure in the itinerary of the delegates’ city visit, the roads leading to these tourist spots are also being spruced up.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will begin coating the Char Kaman with lime and mortar and plastering works will be taken up.

There is also a proposal from the TS tourism department to provide special vehicles equipped with dustbins for street vendors to boost the image near Charminar.

Bitumen recarpeting, zebracrossing, line marking, footpath repairs and greenery works are also be undertaken as part of the beautification programme.
