Motkupally upset at TD-TPCC tie-up talk

- DC CORRESPONDENT

TS TD leader and former minister Motkupally Narasimhulu on Tuesday said that it would be better for the Telugu Desam if it strikes an alliance or opt for seat adjustments with the ruling TRS and the BJP in Telangana state, instead of going for political adjustments with its archrival, the Congress.

Mr Narasimhulu, speaking to newsmen the first time after his name was not considered for a gubernatorial post, differed with TS TD working president A. Revanth Reddy who is trying to strike a seat adjustment deal with the Congress.

“How can the TD, a party formed on an antiCongress platform, think of seat adjustments with the Congress? It’s rubbish, we cannot sail with the Congress anymore. Even if some leader of my party is working on those lines, it doesn’t have our party president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s approval,” Mr Narasimhulu said.

When asked about the political future of the TD in TS, the six-time MLA said, “We can have an alliance with the BJP or the TRS but not with the Congress.”

With regard to his disappointment at not getting the gubernatorial post, Mr Narasimhulu said, “Everyone had promised me and everyone expected me to be named the Governor of a state. I had even stopped taking an active role in politics. However, I am confidant that my leader Chandrababu Naidu will now nominate me for the Rajya Sabha from the Andhra Pradesh quota next year.”
