Hyderabad: A 58-year-old man, travelling in a Nizamabad-bound train, was attacked and robbed at knife-point by four unidentified persons on Wednesday night. The suspects robbed the victim’s mobile phone and jumped off the train, when it halted near the Oliphanta bridge for a signal clearance. According to the police, Ameeruddin alias Irfan was returning home after the work. He boarded a Nizamabad-bound passenger train from Secunderabad. After the train crossed the Oliphenta bridge, the train halted for 20 minutes. The suspects approached the victim, who is working as a painter, and demanded his mobile phone. When he refused to part with it, they threatened him. They took out a sharp knife, injured him and took away the mobile phone. “We are verifying the details with the old database to trace the accused,” said Mr B. Pramod, SI Secunderabad railway police.
