Dina Wadia, the daughter of Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah, passed away at her home in New York on Thursday. She was 98. She is survived by her son and Wadia group chairman Nusli N. Wadia. Her petition to regain control of her childhood home — the palatial Jinnah House — is still pending for a final hearing before a division bench of the Bombay High Court.

Having endured much pain in his 18-year-long injury-littered yet successful career, Ashish Nehra says his body will be at peace as he bid adieu to internatio­nal career on Wednesday night. Nehra was asked by skipper Virat Kohli to bowl the last over the first T20 match, which India won by 53 runs.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Monday issued an apology for “hurting the sentiments” of women whose names he had mentioned in his memoir, An Ordinary Life allegedly without their consent and has decided to withdraw the book. The 43-year-old actor took to Twitter in the wake of the controvers­y surroundin­g his autobiogra­phy, co-written by Rituparna Chatterjee, in which he detailed his relationsh­ips and flings with former Miss India Niharika Singh and actor Sunita Rajwar.

VIRAT KOHLI

Indian captain Virat Kohli on Monday returned to the top of the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen after logging careerhigh rating points, going past the iconic Sachin Tendulkar in the process. Kohli has moved back to the top within 10 days of losing it to South Africa batsman AB de Villiers after the rankings were updated following India’s 2-1 home series win over against New Zealand.

MAMATA BANERJEE

The Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal was on Monday pulled up by the Supreme Court, which wondered how a state can challenge Parliament’s mandate and question the Centre’s move to make the Aadhaar card mandatory for receiving the benefits of social welfare schemes. The apex court said under the federal structure, an individual can file such a plea but not a state government.
