- DC CORRESPONDENT

A `2.6 crore endoscopic ultrasound unit has been procured by the NIMS hospital which has seen the purchase of a series of diagnostic equipments for medical diagnosis and treatment in 2016.

Replying to a question raised during the Question Hour in the Legislative Council here, health minister C. Laxma Reddy said the state government has procured CT angiography equipment, MRI scan and other advanced equipment at a cost of `62 crore.

Meanwhile, in order to reduce time to get medical reports, the minister launched a new app which can save laboratory reports and medical records.

The app allows both doctors and patients to access the records to form an opinion.

The number of beds has been also been increased from 40 to 100 in the emergency ward at NIMS keeping the increasing demand for the same in view.

Mr Reddy said the TRS government has laid special focus on the development of the hospital and facilities being upgraded are at par with corporate hospitals.
