Modi to be flown from Begumpet to Miyapur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s itinerary in the city is being finalised. He will land at Begumpet airport on November 28 morning and will be flown by a helicopter to the Miyapur Metro Rail station accompanie­d by the Governor and the Chief Minister of Telangana. A helipad is being constructe­d opposite Calvary Church, adjacent to the Metro station at Miyapur, for the purpose.

The PM will inaugurate the Metro Rail and travel to Nagole or any distance of his choosing, and then return to Miyapur. From there he will be taken to HICC either by a helicopter or road, where he will inaugurate the Global Entreprene­urs Summit.

The PM is likely to stay in the city for just a day. The Cyberabad police will have 300 personnel to man the road, anti-sabotage checks and crowd checks.

Commission­er of Police, Cyberabad, Sandeep Shandilya, detailed the arrangemen­ts being made for the security of the Prime Minister and other VIPs.

Commission­er of Police, Cyberabad, Sandeep Shandilya, said, “3,000 policemen will guard the area around Miyapur and other stations the VVIPs are likely to travel to by metro. Also, forces will be deployed on high-rise buildings and inner-outer corridor of the Metro route. Over 1,000 police personnel picked from remote district stations plus Cyberabad Commission­erate, will accompany the PM's SPG to check on sabotage and excess crowd and will walk along the PM’s vehicle if he is taken by road from Miyapur station to HICC.”

Ten elite sniffer ‘canine cops’ - German Shepherds, two Cocker Spaniels and many Labradors - will conduct prior anti-terror checks at the Metro stations. Three patrolling vehicles taken from all police stations in Cyberabad will keep a vigil in and around the GES venue.

The security for Ivanka Trump, daughter of the US President, who is to attend the summit, will be handled by the US secret service, which is likely to visit the city to conduct a recce and stay back until the arrival of Ms Trump, the commission­er added.
