3-month survey of city land to begin in April

The purification of revenue records in Hyderabad and urban areas will be taken up for three months in early 2018. The ongoing survey in rural areas will conclude by December 31.

The drive will be held for two months in Hyderabad, given the many land disputes in GHMC and HMDA limits. The survey may be held from April after the Budget Session of the Legislature concludes.

About 3,600 teams comprising tahsildars and revenue officials are tak- ing up the survey in the villages since September 15. Over 10,000 staff have been deputed for the survey. The teams will begin work in Hyderabad after the break.

Half the 10,000 staff will be deployed in GHMC and HMDA limits alone due to the vast area.

He said the land in villages was mainly agricultural, and were relatively big holdings because of which the survey could be completed quickly.

“In a city like Hyderabad, we have to survey smaller land parcels. Many of them are plots of all sizes, which will take more time. Added to this, there are encroachments and disputes. For this reason, we will deploy majority of revenue staff in GHMC and HMDA limits for the survey," Mr Ali said.

The government is taking special care with the survey in the city as it wants to create an errorfree land bank for future allotments to industries and corporates to set up operations.

The allotments being made now are challenged in courts citing disputes over ownership and government wants to resolve these issues once for all with the latest survey.
