- HYDERABAD, NOV. 26 DC CORRESPONDENT

Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi asked information technology experts to innovate in such a way that huge problems such as child labour, malnutrition, and poverty are addressed.

He was speaking at the ‘Road to GES’ event at Hitex, organised by INK, NITI Aayog and T-Hub, in the run-up to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Hyderabad.

Addressing the audience who were primarily entrepreneurs, Mr Satyarthi said, “You are an unprecedented and powerful tide of change, you are the real change makers. You represent disruption, innovation and creation and combination of ideas and ideals.”

He said that the innovation and moral science can transform lives and livelihoods forever. “The way robotics and AI (artificial intelligence) are growing, they will bring sustainable change in society and yet we live in a world where millions of children cannot go to school.”

Minister K.T. Rama Rao spoke on The Power of Ideas. He said, “I truly believe it is going to be India’s decade and India’s Century and why do I believe that India has really arrived on the world stage? Because we are talking about innovation and knowledge. Moreover, the world is aging but India is getting younger.”

He referred to the speech of Indian scientist R.A. Mashelkar: “We need adventure capitalists and not venture capitalists. Local solutions, recipes and formulas are needed which suit India.”

He said that governments and governance within a country like India need to be innovative and to deploy ideas. Even though governments have ambitious agendas and ideas, they need to be in sync with the ground realities,” Mr Rama Rao said.

IPS officer Amit Lodha, on whom the Ajay Devgn starrer Gangajal is based, appealed to people to contribute money at Bharatkeveer.gov.in which will be used for the welfare of the relatives of jawans of our paramilitary forces killed in action.

Musicians Usha Uthup and Joi Barua performed at the event. Microsoft has signed a partnership with T-Hub wherein an accelerator for growth stage startups will be set up with access to technology and to mentors.
