HIGH METRO FARES

The Metro Rail fare is not inexpensive when compared to Mumbai local trains. The state government and Metro Rail can review the fares so as to encourage the poor to travel on the new system (Metro Rail fares start at `10). P. Jithender Hyderabad

I appeal to the government to consider reducing the fares a little. On what basis, were the fares was decided? According to the Metro Railway (Operation & Maintenance) Act, 2002, public opinion will have to be taken when fares are fixed. The fare fixation committee constituted by the Centre was to recommend the fares. Ramesh Kotnana

Happy that Metro Rail is getting ready for commercial operations from November 29. The authourities are requested to ensure that the stations are not surrounded by autorickshaws, cabs and private vehicles. Introducing a system of parking and maintaining the queue system will ensure safety. G. Murali Mohan Rao

For all the hardships that motorists faced due to haphazard Metro Rail work, the fares announced by L&T come as a disappointment. It will work out to be cheaper to travel on our bikes, even if it takes more time. The fares should be structured in such a way that it encourages commuters to train the Metro. Vishnuvardhan Reddy
