Colour codes, identity tags to categorise security cops

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, NOV. 26

Cops posted in and around the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) as part of the security arrangements for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) will be categorised using colour codes as per the responsibilities assigned to them and the areas at which they are stationed.

Each of the 4,000 security personnel will be issued a barcoded identity tag bearing one of the six colours. An officer will not be allowed to venture beyond the designated area for his colour category. Such barcoded tags will also be issued to the officers on duty at Begumpet Airport, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, and the helipad in Miyapur.

The Cyberabad police has been collecting all the details and the photographs of the personnel being deputed for the event.

So far, they have collected the details of around 3,500 officers. The exercise is expected to be completed by Monday afternoon. According to senior police officials, the details are being updated on an application specially designed for this purpose.

All the officers will be issued barcoded tags by Monday evening, after which they will take charge at their designated locations.

“Each tag will contain the details and the photograph of its holder. Officers will only be allowed to enter and exit their designated areas after scanning tags. Their entr-ies and exits will be recorded,” said a top official overseeing arrangements at the HICC.

These rules are being enforced to avoid the unnecessary movement of officers in and out of their assigned locations. Identity tags will also be issued to RTC drivers and officers of the tourism department who will be driving the vehicles that will take delegates to and from event venues and their hotels.
