KCR TO OFFER HUGE SOPS FOR BC MEMBERS

-

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will announce a slew of welfare and development schemes for the Backward Classes who constitute 52 per cent of the population.

Mr Rao has convened a big meeting at his camp office on Sunday with representatives of BC organisations and groups besides ministers and legislators from the BC communities.

“The Chief Minister will personally hear from all the representatives on what has to be done for these sections and announce a bonanza,” finance minister and prominent BC leader Etala Rajender said.

Ahead of the meeting, TRS legislators met with a group of BC organisations and obtained their views on fresh schemes and programmes.

Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had earlier announced schemes like distribution of sheep, goats and cattle and seeding lakes with fingerlings following such meetings. He had also announced state assistance for traditional trades.

Despite these, there are other sections which still need special assistance for continuing their livelihood.

Mr Rao had earlier entrusted the job of looking into the concerns and demands of these communities to a committee headed by Mr Rajender which comprised ministers belonging BCs communities. It has since submitted its report.

“There are different categories in BCs covering more than 120 castes. Members of these castes offer professional and service-oriented trades. They comprise small traders and cultural and entertainment group,” Mr Rajender said. Mr Rao would fulfil their requirements.

After Saturday’s meeting with BC organisations, Mahbubnagar MLA V. Srinivasa Goud said this would be Mr Rao’s first consultation with a large number of BC organisations to announce a series of sops.
