Put off visit to Pak, warns US U.S. TO GIVE OUT 4-LEVEL TRAVEL ADVISORY

Washington, Dec. 9: The United States on Saturday advised its citizens to defer all non-essential travel to Pakistan, saying that foreign and indigenous terrorist groups continue to pose a threat to them throughout the country.

The warning comes in the wake of increasing terrorist violence, including sectarian attacks, in Pakistan.

In a travel warning issued after a gap of seven months — the State Department warned the US citizens against all non-essential travel to the South Asian country.

The fresh travel warning replaces earlier warning, issued on May 22.

Pakistan continues to experience significan­t terrorist violence, including sectarian attacks, the State Department said, adding that targeted attacks against government Washington, Dec. 9: The US will issue travel advisories from next month to its citizens based on a four-level classifica­tion system with clearly recommende­d actions.

The level one is to “exercise normal precaution­s”, level two would be “exercise increased caution”, level three is “reconsider travel”, and level four would be “do not travel”, a top American diplomat said. — PTI officials, humanitari­an and NonGovernm­ent Organisati­on employees, tribal elders, and law enforcemen­t personnel were common in the country. — PTI
