SALIL PAREKH
Infosys has announced the appointment of Salil Parekh as the chief executive officer and managing director with effect from January 2, 2018 for a period of five years. He will join Infosys from Capgemini, the European IT and business services firm, where he was a member of the Group Executive Board.

An Islamist terror plot to assassinate British Prime Minister Theresa May has been foiled by security services. Two men were arrested. Officials believe the alleged plot is the 9th to have been thwarted since March this year. The attack on Westminster in March heralded the start of a spate of attacks, with five terrorists getting through Britain’s defences and claiming a total of 36 lives.
M.S. DHONI
The all-important IPL governing council meeting recently has paved the way for CSK to retain their hero M.S. Dhoni. The veteran wicket-keeper batsman could also be handed the captaincy, given his successful stint with the club. However, a few teams have opposed the GC meet where for franchisees could retain a maximum number of five players from their previous squad.
DAPHNE GALIZIA
The Maltese authorities announced that 10 people have been arrested in connection with the murder of prominent journalist 53-year-old Daphne Caruana Galizia, who was killed in a car bomb attack on October 16. The arrests following a near seven-week investigation carried out with help from the FBI, Europol and the Finnish intelligence. Her most explosive reports included allegations that members of PM Joseph Muscat’s inner circle benefited from kickbacks.
SHASHI KAPOOR
Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor passed away on the evening of December 4. He was 79. Shashi Kapoor is not with us anymore but his onscreen avatar in Deewar and several other films will keep reminding us of the fine line that divides the right and the wrong. He played all the roles from a doting father to a carefree youngster. Apart from his love for late wife Jennifer Kendal, who he lost in 1984, theatre, was the only love Shashi nurtured up until his death.
