MUNICIPAL SERVICES APP ON THE ANVIL
The TS municipal administration launched an Android app to bring municipal services closer to citizens.
Municipal administration director T.K. Sreedevi said, “Presently 23 services including assessment of property tax, transfer of ownership of property and others are available online. The new system will provide transparent and time bound services to citizens.”
The system will handle applications and grievances. It will also redress them affectively within a specified time frame, alerting citizens at every stage.
Sreedevi said, “The Urban Genie” is an Android mobile app that enables citizens to find service providers for services such as an electrician, plumber, fitter, repairer etc. By downloading this app citizens can request for these services in their respective area. When a request is placed, it is forwarded to the local city livelihood center of the municipality.” She said, “With the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in municipal areas, TS is bridging the gap between the demand and supply.”
The app allows jobless urban youth to register themselves according to their skills and preferences. The MEPMA would then help them get employment or enhance their skills. The app is presently under development and will be launched shortly. Urban Dosth: A mobile application and initiative under the MEPMA, will help connect the homeless to shelters. The government has established shelters for the homeless in various local bodies. The app lets citizens help a homeless person connect to a shelters.
