ANDHRA PRADESH Naidu seeks public opinion on Assembly

- DC CORRESPONDENT VIJAYAWADA, DEC. 13

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to place the two design models for the Assembly complex in the public domain to elicit public opinion.

The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) held a meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday to discuss the finalisation of designs for the High Court and the Assembly. The Chief Minister reviewed the two design options presented by Foster + Partners for the Assembly building and finalized the designs after consulting with the officials present at the meeting.

Film director S.S. Rajamouli and Minister P. Narayana proposed a few changes to the designs. Mr Rajamouli has contributed to the design process by creating a cultural context for the British architectural firm in the form of visual cues representing the history of the Telugu state.

According to the final designs, the Assembly complex will include a viewing tower and a museum. What was once supposed to occupy 8.5 lakh square feet will now occupy nearly twice that area.

The Amaravati Deep Dive Workshop, which will be held on December 14 and 15, will contain detailed presentations and status reports of the projects underway in Amaravati, as well as future plans related to infrastructure. This annual event will include about 15 panel discussions on various aspects of the city’s development. Each panel will include renowned personalities of that particular field from around the world. The discussions will culminate in an action plan that will be implemented by the concerned authorities.

Some of the topics on which panel discussions will be held are governance, transport and mobility, start-up incubation, use of information and communication technology (ICT) for the development of a smart city with urban design strategies, health, media, sports and knowledge economy.
